beachy no-no

so while i was away i happened upon a wedding taking place on the beach. i'm sure, in the future, this couple will see either the humor in what happened, if not the error of their ways. first of all the beach was not private. i'm sure one could get a more secluded spot. but the beachfront of the crowne plaza resort just ain't it. not only was there a host of half naked gawkers (report on swimsuits: "ladies" are wearing them ill-fitting and ill-advised), but a dredge (oysters?) sailed by as well as a coast guard helicopter flying very low (shark patrol, seriously) and another small plane all invading within the space of the 10 minute ceremony.

at least they checked the tides so there was no matrimonial flooding.

and of course the tide is going to erase "just married" thereby nullifying their marriage.

and having any strangers in swimming attire in proximity to myself at my wedding is a horrifying idea. I think people should be vetted before they're allowed to by a swimming suit and allowed to wander among the public so scantily dressed (I'm not implying that I should get to wear a swimming suit either).

A couple summers ago I attended a wedding in Central Park behind the arboretum. It was a gorgeous spot and a beautiful day, interrupted only by a pack of rowdy skateboarders cutting jumps off the stairs right behind the chupah. Every picture of the ceremony looks like the wedding X-games. Low level.

low low level. I think that might encapsulate everything wrong about this society and why we are the last of the international ladies.
